About Us
Born in the rugged Pacific Northwest, Paxis® was founded by outdoor enthusiasts who understand the need for quick access to their gear without the hassle of removing your backpack.

The outdoors has always been special to me. When I was a kid I made tree forts, played baseball, and mowed lawns for candy money. I cruised around on my bicycle without a helmet and rode in the back of an old pickup truck without a seatbelt. I hiked and camped out overnight (without adult supervision) to a nearby lake so I could fish for rainbow trout on opening day. I survived my childhood growing up in, and loving the outdoors.
For the past 42 years, I have lived on a remote island that is surrounded by unbelievable beauty. Orca whales swim in the waters around us, bald eagles circle overhead and I have access to exceptional fishing lakes and many miles of hiking trails. I even learned to fly so I could see the island from above.
From hiking to fishing to nature photography, being outside has been a big part of my life. Every time I go out for a hike I am still amazed at the beauty of my surroundings. As an adult, I am always looking for ways to share this beauty with others.
Being in the outdoors is a welcome diversion from work and everyday activities and for me, it’s a dream come true. In our leisure time my wife, Cathy, and I enjoy traveling to new places and going on interesting adventures.

I love travel, hiking, and kayaking and my love for outdoor exploration began at a young age.
Growing up, my dad was a seasonal ranger in the Olympic National Park in Washington State. We went on a lot of adventures during those summers. And now, as an adult, I am drawn to any place with an abundance of natural beauty, fabulous food, and an opportunity to explore.
I continue to enjoy such things when my husband, Paul, and I take frequent hikes and mini-trips.
I also enjoy creating with textiles. My mom and grandmothers taught me how to sew and do other textile related crafts when I was young and I started making my own clothes when I was eight years old.
I find that I have a way with fabric, color and texture.
After I had been knitting for many years I learned to spin my own yarn from fleece sheared from sheep, goats and even llamas. Having those abilities has given me added pleasure as I knit items for our grandson, Archer.
When Paul and I aren’t busy with Paxis or exploring new trails, we enjoy spending time with our children and their families.
